small lakes surrounded by the natural woodlands of the Canadian Shield.\u00a0 Families have lived and thrived there for generations.<\/p>\n

Now encompassing 17 members, the Dunany Studio Artists are a unique, united and committed group of creative men and women who receive their inspiration from their beautiful natural surroundings.\u00a0 They produce works in watercolour, pastel, oil, acrylic, artistic mosaics plus sculptures in clay and wood.<\/p>\n

The group was formed in the year 2000<\/strong> by artists who studied with the renowned, late painter, Barbara Elmslie. Since then, the group has expanded and, prior to the pandemic, used to meet weekly to create art, share their knowledge, assist each other, learn new techniques and cement life-long friendships. Now, because of Covid 19, they meet on-line via Zoom technology, but the artists still find beauty and inspiration in both life and art by continuing to support each other.<\/p>\n

Prior to the pandemic, the Dunany Studio Artists would offer professional watercolour classes<\/strong> at various times throughout the year, featuring well known visiting masters and artists-teachers, such as Jacques H\u00e9bert, Art Cunanan, Doug Mays, Ren\u00e9e Dion and many others. These teachers were so enamoured with the enthusiasm of the group, their talent and the beautiful, landscape of the Dunany region, that they always asked to return again and again.\u00a0 The group hopes to hold these workshops when safe again in the future.<\/p>\n

The original founders<\/strong> of the Dunany Studio Artists (Revilla Sauv\u00e9, Joanne Moore, Ginette Masson, Jackie Shelly, Sandra Laroche and Annabelle Wood), have experienced first-hand the joy of painting \u201cen plein air\u201d (painting outdoor) and over the years have travelled together to France, Italy, Spain, Mexico and many locations in Canada to practice this celebration of painting in nature.<\/p>\n

Every year, the Dunany Studio Artists would put on an exhibition of their art<\/strong> at their historic and beloved Dunany Golf and Country Club which celebrates its 100th<\/sup> birthday in 2022 with the completion of a new, improved and upgraded club house.) Last year\u2019s exhibition, for the first time, went \u201cvirtual\u201d and viewers were be able to browse through new works by all the artists safely, securely and on their own time. The caliber of talent and the professionalism represented by the Dunany group has always been exceptional and their annual exhibit has been held in high esteem and been unsurpassed.\u00a0 This year\u2019s virtual exhibition will be no exception.<\/p>\n

The current member<\/strong>s of the Dunany Studio Artists include Revilla Sauv\u00e9, Maureen Cameron, Joanne Moore, Jane Pilon, Annabelle Wood, Angela Macleod, Caroline Roy, Barbara McCullough Scales, Marion McGill Hodge, Corry Berry, Judy Hammond, Steve Darlington, John Vanstone, Ginette Masson, Nancy Farha, Careen Heggie Latt and Susie Leger.<\/p>\n
