She is Cynthia Scott, a summer resident of Curran Lake with her husband <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_N._Smith\">John N. Smith, also a producer.<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dunany.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-Scott_Cynthia_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-9795\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dunany.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-Scott_Cynthia_2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dunany.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-Scott_Cynthia_2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.dunany.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/1-Scott_Cynthia_2-230x230.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She won an Oscar in 1984 for her Film Flamenco at 5:15,\u00a0 a 1983 short documentary film taking audiences inside a flamenco dance class at the National Ballet School of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to see the 30 minute film now, j<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/hFVC7PH2zJU\">ust click on this link.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cynthia\u00a0 was honoured at a special evening on August 2, 2018 at the Dunany Country Club. There was be a screening of her most memorable films along with a discussion with the filmmaker and host Chris Wynn. Watch the lovely video invitation below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s9KPFBFcH7w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cynthia is from Manitoba and that after a short career in the media world, she joined the National Film Board of Canada in 1972 where she directed and produced many films including Flamenco at 5:15<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar for Best Documentary (Short Subject) which she shared with Adam Symnansky\u00a0 <span id=\"body_Results1\"><\/span>was handed to her by Jack Palance and his daughter Holly. But most importantly I would like to thank the two great teachers of &#8220;Flamenco at 5:15,&#8221; Susana and Antonio Robledo. It is their dignity, their discipline, and their commitment to life which were the inspiration for this film.
