In Dunany, our quality of life rests on a shared commitment: protecting our lakes, preserving our environment, and nurturing a community where everyone feels at home. Over the years, many individuals have generously given their time to bring this mission to life, and ARD wished to recognize this dedication by creating an award that celebrates those who make a real and lasting difference.

This award honours residents whose actions support ARD’s mission, strengthen community spirit, and inspire others through their leadership, creativity, and dedication. It follows in the tradition of tributes paid to remarkable figures such as Peter Palmer, Rod Armstrong, and Robert Percy.

It bears the name of Jacques Pigeon, a man whose exceptional involvement perfectly embodies the spirit of this award. Since his arrival in 1996, Jacques has been a pillar of our community: board member for more than 20 years, president several times, passionate guardian of water quality, bridge‑builder with experts, Dunany’s representative to provincial organizations, creator of our website, author of stories about our history, and tireless ambassador to new residents.

Together with his wife, France Jobin, he watched over the health of our lakes, and thanks to his hard work, knowledge, and determination, the Dunany community can today be proud of the exceptional quality of its environment.

Jacques gave selflessly, with heart, conviction, and contagious energy. His leadership shaped ARD, and his presence on the board will be deeply missed. This award, which now bears his name, is a way of saying thank you — and a reminder that the commitment of a single person can illuminate an entire community.

Presentation of the Jacques Pigeon Award to France Jobin

The first Jacques‑Pigeon Award is presented to France Jobin, a Dunany resident for nearly 30 years and a volunteer known for her rigor and generosity. For more than two decades, she has played a key role in monitoring the water quality of our four lakes: collecting samples, training new volunteers, ensuring compliance with scientific protocols, and managing unexpected challenges.

She also contributes to the identification of aquatic plants, represents Dunany within environmental organizations, and defends the community’s values with conviction. Deeply involved in community life, she has served on the board of directors, managed membership dues, supported activities, sung for the community, and reviewed the texts on our website. Often discreet but always indispensable, France forms with Jacques Pigeon a duo whose commitment lies at the heart of ARD’s mission. The Association is delighted to present her with this award.
