Dunany Knitters and Crocheters Craft Squares for Courage Project for Battered and Abused Women.

Earlier this month, Dunany Knitters and Crocheters participated in the Crafted for Courage Project held earlier in Montreal. This Project will aid battered and abused women.

The Funds raised will be distributed to three Montreal shelters for Women.

Over the past winter months the Dunany Ladies contributed 95 squares measuring 50 cm x 50 cm. Some were knitted and some crocheted. Paula Minty also contributed a handmade bag as a gift to the Projet.

Each week the Dunany knitters met at our Wentworth Community Centre and then, a few even went to the city each week to help sew the blankets together at the Westmount Recreation Center.

All in all, 344 blankets were laid out on the foyer of the Place Ville Marie building and most were sold.

An important side note is that Dave Kaufman’s (a DCC member) sister Amy was the Keynote speaker. She shared stories of her own personal struggle with domestic violence.

Needless to say, all those in attenance were very touched.

Congratulations ladies, Dunany is proud of you.
